Equipment and Equipment Care

Team Equipment

At the beginning of each season, each coach is given specific equipment appropriate for the level in which they are coaching. The coach may subsequently contact the Equipment Manager to arrange for changes; for example, a left-handed catcher's mitt or larger catcher's equipment to accommodate a player.

With the exception of T-Ball, most coaches will be given the following:
  • Equipment Bag
    • Bats
    • Catcher's equipment
    • Box of game balls - these should be used for scheduled games only.
      • Generally, the home team coach is responsible for supplying one new ball and one other, slightly used ball. At the end of the game, coaches should retrieve the balls from the umpires. Once a game ball is used, it can become a practice ball. A dozen game balls can cost up to $80, so supplying game balls are a significant cost to the league. It's important to return as many used balls as possible to the league at the end of the season.
    • Bucket of practice balls
    • First Aid kit (or could be in the bunker)
    • Ice packs (or could be in the bunker)
  • Bow Net
Please review the Equipment Care Guide for information on how to properly care for the Team Equipment so that the team equipment is kept in good working order and will last for multiple seasons.

At the end of the season, equipment bags and contents should be returned to the Equipment Manager.

Field Equipment

In additional to the equipment found in your team equipment bag, each game diamond has a bunker which is full of equipment that is needed for each game. This equipment includes:

  • a rake (with the exception of Pinecrest Senior and Britannia where the rake fits in the bunker, the rake will be locked to the fence by the bunker)
  • a lock for the rake
  • chalker
  • bucket of chalk
  • a hammer
  • Umpire equipment:
    • mask
    • shin guards
    • chest protector
  • bases

The home team is responsible for grooming the field before and after the game but it is everyone's responsibility to make sure the league equipment is properly maintained and secured. Please make sure the following are performed at the end of the game:

  • Put the chalker and chalk bucket at the bottom of the bunker
  • Put the bases on top of the bunker
  • Return the first aid kit  and unused ice packs to the bunker
  • Put the umpire gear on top of everything else in the bunker (no one wants a mask full of chalk)
  • Make sure the rake is properly secured (either in the bunker or to the fence - be sure to thread the lock through the base of the handle)
  • Lock the bunker
  • Properly dispose of all garbage in and around the dugout and spectator areas
  • Make sure all player gear is taken home
  • IMPORTANT: if chalk is running low, email our Field Manager immediately (do not wait for it to run out as it takes a few days to distribute to fields).

Special Equipment

The league also has some special equipment that coaches can sign out from time to time to use during practices or special events. Please contact the Equipment Manager if you would like to use any of this special equipment.

This equipment includes:
